“Blocket is Sweden's largest marketplace where one can find everything from designer furniture and strollers to cars and jobs.”
My role at Blocket was to redesign how customers create their advertisements to sell an item at Blocket. I was part of the team responsible for the customer journey "mobility", which includes cars, boats and motorcycles.
The motivation to redesign how customers create their advertisements to sell an item at Blocket (Ad insertion) was twofold, technical dept and user needs.
The existing solution runs in a system that will get shut down and replaced with a system that provides more flexibility. Due to the current constraints, UX improvements have been postponed.
The redesign had to balance the technical deadline with the desired UX improvements. User insights and business requirements were well documented when I started.
The current flow presented all information on one page without much structure. That approach is sufficient for less complex user journeys.
I split the user journey into smaller segments. That way, the user can focus on one task at a time, and it is easier to add more complexity to the flow in the future.
I was experimenting with different ways to break the flow into steps. I settled with a flow that uses horizontal navigation to move "left" and "right" through the flow.
With the support of a service designer at Blocket, I evaluated the initial design with a handful of customers.
The prototype performed well. No significant issues emerged. However, I did discover a couple of areas for improvement. I corrected these with the final designs.
