ABB develops accurate and reliable measurement solutions based on the pioneering heritage of Lorentzen & Wettre in the Pulp and Paper Industry.
As a design consultant at ABB, I worked in the field of Pulp and Paper Production, focusing on two specific products: the FiberTester and the FeltScan.
The FiberTester is an instrument that measures fibers in paper pulp using a high-resolution camera.
My responsibilities included defining and refining the product requirements, collecting customer feedback through site visits, and designing initial prototype user interfaces based on the gathered requirements.
The FeltScan is a set of handheld instruments used to measure the moisture or permeability of transportation and press felts in a paper machine.
My work on the FeltScan involved defining and refining the product requirements, designing the physical input methods and the user interface for the touchscreen, conducting prototype testing at several paper machines at customer sites, and collaborating closely with the development team on the implementation of the interface.
I also worked on the companion PC application that manages the measurements from the FeltScan units.
My responsibilities included defining the requirements, designing the user interface, managing and overseeing the development by the remote team, and performing user acceptance testing.
Throughout these projects, I utilized Figma as the design tool and designed for various target architectures, such as TouchGFX on an integrated system, WPF on Windows, and QT on Windows.
